Meet Expedition Motor Company, Alex Levin's commitment to building the most authentically restored vintage Mercedes G-Wagons on the market. During his career in private equity and commercial real estate, Alex rediscovered his childhood passion for the G-Wagon amidst restoring 2 250GDs for his personal collection. During this process, he came to find that properly restoring a Wolf was particularly challenging as it was an uncharted territory. There was so much hidden potential given the nature of the model being a convertible, vintage G-Wagon, but there was an immense amount of work to to be done in order to do it the right way. Alex discovered this underserved niche and committed to sharing his newly developed restoration process with the world.

"I know what you're thinking, classic BS founding story about the childhood connection blah blah blah. But I can honestly tell you that I hold a deep connection with these trucks. I frequently reminisce with my dad about the times he used to let me drive on his lap in our family's G. These trucks, particularly the 250GD, are really really special. Its amazing to think that our end product, a rare and bespoke 4x4 with over 2,100 man hours invested, was getting shot at and dropped from helicopters at one point. It really is the perfect marriage of refinement and military-tested durability."

Founded in 2017, EMC's primary goal has been to collaborate with the client to develop a personalized, actionable vision for the rare 250GD G-Wagon. Every Wolf that comes out of our shop gets over 2,100 hours of attention from our team of skilled craftsmen with 500 years of collective experience in the art of restoration.

Here at EMC, we take preserving the 250GD's storied history very seriously. As a result of this, we strive to utilize as much of the original truck as possible while also ensuring a product that we are proud of. In our eyes, if we omit components such as the ammunitions box, folding windshield , or original bulletproof OM602 diesel engine, we would effectively be stripping the Wolf of it's identity. That being said, we have also invested tens of thousands of hours in R&D to fabricate parts that enhance the driving experience. We pay homage while also committing to
excellence.

While Expedition Motor Company is outwardly fueled on passion for the 250GD, we are also proud of our commitment to preserving the analog automotive experience. In a time where cars are becoming numb and nanny-laden, we are happy to confirm that the truck does not drive itself. The Geländenwagen's history is a storied one dating back to the 1970's. The boxy truck that we know and love was developed due to a request from the Shah of Iran to create a military vehicle capable of conquering any terrain. The initial designs of the vehicle generated so much buzz, that Mercedes-Benz ended up evolving the model for civilian use. In 1979, the first G-Wagon rolled out of the factory in Graz, Austria being marketed as the "G-Model". Here, the Mercedes Geländenwagen was born with a contemporary design and an adventure-ready demeanor. Thanks to its military influence, the civilian G-Wagon was built to be reliable and extremely capable in the world's most unforgiving environments.

In one of a few departures from the Geländenwagen's rugged nature, Mercedes released a more luxurious version of the model in 1989 due to growing demand for a more plush experience. Here at EMC, we obsess over finding the optimal balance between modern-day usability and that magical vintage charm. We do our best to infuse all of our G-Wagons with a modern flare while guaranteeing the true nature of these 4x4s is not lost, but pronounced.
